RPL Catalogue
From RPL Catalogue of Resources
Welcome to the Recognition of Prior Learning Catalogue
The RPL Catalogue is an online catalogue of links to tools, services, and resources from across Canada related to the identification, documentation, and demonstration of skills and learning
Definitions:
Tool:
A tool is an instrument that is used for or facilitates a specific assessment purpose. The individual may use it to benefit himself or it may be used by an organization with individuals or groups for a specific purpose. For example, The Professional Skills Record (PSR) is a technical skills assessment tool designed to be used in the workplace by an apprentice and a journey person. It is arranged it so an apprentice can use it to measure their progress in their trade from the time they sign up for apprenticeship through to Red Seal Certification.
Resource:
A resource is something that is used to achieve an objective or to provide help or support for a specific purpose. Resources can be people, equipment, facilities, funding, information, management, time, or anything else capable by definition of being required for the completion of a project’s activity. Labour is not usually considered a resource (it is considered a service). Service Canada’s Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG), which is offered to registered apprentices once they have successfully completed their first or second year/level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program in one of the Red Seal trades, is an example of a resource.
Service:
A service is work or assistance provided by one group or person that benefits others. For example, ASPECT, A Community-Based Training Organization in BC, offers community based workforce development services for job seekers.
